Installing LiveDescribe Player

Click on the download software tab.

Click on LiveDescribe Player v1.0.2.

When the File Download - Security Warning appears.
Click on the Save button.

Select a location to save the file that you will remember such as either Desktop or My Documents.

Go to the location that you saved the file.
-
Double click on the file.

When the Internet Explorer- Security Warning appears.
Click on the Run button.

When the WinRAR self-extracting appears.
Click on the Install button.

When the LiveDescribe Installer appears.
Click on the Next button.

On the LiveDescribe Installer
Click on the Next button.
-
On the LiveDescribe Installer
Click on the Next button.

On the LiveDescribe Installer
Click on the Close button.
How to use the LiveDescribe Authoring Tool

Go to Start > Programs > LiveDescribe > LiveDescribe Authoring Tool.

For the Select Capture Device window, choose which audio output you prefer to use.
Note: that the default audio output is initially selected.
When you are finished click OK.

Go to File > Import Video to open the video file that you would like to work with.

Press the Play button to play your video. Once you've decided where you would like to add a description, you can press the Space Mark { button which will mark where your description will start. To end this press the Space Mark } button.

After creating your first description, you should see it on the Descriptions and Spaces box.
Type your description on the Text Description box.
- Press the Record button and a new box will appear where your text description is placed.
The timer underneath is how long your description is. It will decrease as you record your voice as your description.

To start recording, press the Record button. This is where you will speak on your microphone and read the description that you typed previously in the Text Description box. Once the timer is set to zero, it is no longer recording. You can also stop the recording. After recording, you can press Close.

To playback your recording, go to the Timeline and press on the description. It should be red in colour after you have pressed on it.
Press Play in the Video Control box to listen to your description recording.

Go to File > Save Project to save your current project.
How to playing a Description using the LiveDescribe Player

Ensure that you have completed the steps under "Browsing and downloading Descriptions" and that you have installed the LiveDescribe Player

Go to the location in which you have the original video and description file.

Open the description that you have downloaded.
How to edit/delete your description space

In the Description and Spaces box, right click on a description that you would like to edit.
Choose Edit Space.

If you would like to delete it, choose Delete Space.
Browsing and downloading Descriptions

Click on the browse descriptions tab at the top of the screen.

You can then select the descriptions based on either Types, Genres or Alphabetically .

Scroll down and click on a description below.

Click on the link beside "Download Original File:" to download the original video file that was described.
Click "Save" and then save the file to a familiar location that you will remember.

Click on the link beside "Description File:" to download the description file.
Please note: that Internet Explorer may block this download. Click on the banner at the top of the page and select Download File

Follow the same saving procedure in Step 4 ensuring that the description file is in the same location as the original video file.
